My dear friends,
I want to share with you a fragment of Eckart Tolle’s A New Earth that illustrates beautifully and with simplicity what we do to ourselves when we carry the past as a heavy burden in our minds.
If you think of energy flow in your life as a cashflow , ask yourself how much of that cashflow you are depleting by thinking and giving power and energy to events totally outside your control that had happened days, months or some cases years ago? The reason why I compare here energyflow to cashflow is that if it was real money involved in our thoughts we might be all more careful where we put our energy. Remember energy follows thought. Ask yourself , who am I giving my thoughts to ? Staying in the past is an energy waster and it is stealing from your present life.
Here is the story:
Two Zen monks, Tanzan and Ekido, who were walking along a country road that had become extremely muddy after heavy rains. Near the village, they came upon a young woman who was trying to cross the road, but the mud was so deep it would have riuned the silk kimono she was wearing, Tanzan at once picked her up and carried her to the other side.
The monks walked on in silence. Five hours later, as they were apporaching the lodging temple, Ekido couldn’t restrain himself any longer. “Why did you carry that girl across the road?” he asked. “We monks are not supposed to do things like that”
“I put the girl down hours ago”, said Tanzan. “Are you still carrying her?”
Lots of love and positive energy to you all,
X
Maria
