The weather is getting better and it is a nice excuse to get involved doing some outdoor volunteering. It is so easy to make a difference and help charities or institutions that rely on donations or volunteers to get by.

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding experiences and if you follow your heart there are plenty of organisations that will be delighted to count on you.

The environment and wild life preservation are very important for me so I chose this line of work as part of my regular volunteering. I’ve been lucky to get involved with the  Irish Seal Sanctuary and share some wonderful experiences organising seal releases around the Dublin coast. I also take part in Bull Island Action Group to help preserve the amenities around North Bull Island. However, if releasing seals back to the wild or cleaning the beach is not your thing there is many others organisations that will be happy to have you.

To make it really easy for you I did some research I want to share with you.

Happy volunteering!

Have you ever wondered if we are all connected? I am very much in tune with the Law of Attraction and absolutely believe we are all part of Life and sharing the same planet for a reason. I also believe in the personal power we have to make a positive impact on others with our words and actions. How true is the quote by Jean Paul Sartre’ words are loaded pistols’ and how powerful these pistols can be when directed at others through our choice of communication.

Imagine my delight, gratitude and surprise when I got a mail today from a total stranger commenting on my website in such a lovely manner that it inspired me to write a blog. In fact, I think the word ’stranger’ is too cold,  so I decided to change it to ’str-angel’ because this person made such a positive impact on me that he became a ‘cyber- angel’. His words made me think of the importance and ripple effect of the words we choose to communicate with one another and how easy is to be nice and make a positive impact on people. It only takes a minute to connect with our heart and soul and spread the good. I am really blessed with my friends and family and their T.L.C. proves invaluable for me but I am also grateful for people like Michael Tely which, with his words, managed to lift my spirit and put a smile on my face.  You too can become a Str-angel. Say something nice to the shop assistant, the bus driver, your work colleagues.  It’s so easy and you will feel great afterwards.

Here is Michael’s comment on MJL website:

One of my most rewarding experiences in 2007 was being asked to take part in the third series of RTE1/No Place Like Home and working with Motive TV to represent my native country, Chile.

Why was it so special? Well, imagine having all the things I value and that I am passionate about condensed in a 30 minutes Tv programme: my country, family, friends, respect for the environment… For me that was magic.

I am half Chilean and half Spanish with an Irish name -thanks to my gorgeous Irish husband that is…

It is great to have three countries to claim as home and to appreciate all the different advantages that each one has to offer. However, for me it is Ireland the country that has been the pillar for my self-development and my personal fulfilment.

I have always been fond of the Irish… seriously, this is so true. Since an early age, 4 years old to be precise, at School, I have the chance to have teachers who were native Scottish and Irish. I developed a love for these Isles and an obsession for the history, the music, the heritage, the lanscape and the red heads… but it was only at a later stage in my life that I will land in Ireland and settle here for good with my own red head :)

No place Like Home gave me the chance to embrace both countries that have made me who I am today: my native Chile and my adopted Ireland. The programme brought magic to my life at a time when I needed a lift as my father had recently passed away and somehow the programme helped the grieving process and brought the family together for a happy occasion. For all these reasons I am forever grateful.

You might not believe this but I am only allow to see the programme for the first time when it goes on air so it will be a surprise for me as well! I am so curious to see what was edited out of the many days of filming in Chile and in Ireland! It will be fun.

The programme is scheduled to be part of the new series of RTE1 /No Place Like Home -Sunday 10th February at 19:30pm.

Best wishes,

Maria
